Yes! Many dental procedures can be completed in as little as a day or even in a few, short hours. Dental implant procedures have gotten faster over the years, and while the actual treatment time is highly dependent on the implant solution being utilized, some options can be completed very quickly with reliable, long-lasting results.
Providence Dental Spa’s “Teeth in One Day” Solution
The “Teeth in One Day” option is perfect for patients who wear dentures, have several missing teeth or can’t wear dentures because of shallow palates. Providence’s oral surgeons can insert titanium dental implants designed to grip and anchor dentures, partials or a bridge, all of which can be completed in just one dental visit.
Before patients can begin the process, a pre-surgery consultation must occur first. The surgeon will examine the patient’s mouth to ensure there is adequate jaw bone density and confirm they are a good candidate for same-day dental implants.
X-rays and impressions are also taken of the patient’s jaws in order to create custom implants that will fit perfectly. This is also when the team will map out implant placement to ensure the best, snug, long-lasting fit for your dentures.
The pre-surgery process is also the ideal time for patients to ask questions and address any concerns they have with the surgeon.
While many people are good candidates for Teeth in One Day, not everyone will be eligible for the treatment based on certain preexisting conditions or factors. Patients with uncontrolled cases of diabetes are not eligible for the procedure and will be advised by the surgeon to seek treatment before they proceed with same-day implants. Uncontrolled diabetes can affect the healing and dental implant integration process.
Smokers may have the surgery but the surgeon will advise the patient to quit smoking before they can undergo surgery as smoking can negatively affect the healing process post-surgery and may adversely affect implant integration.
Day of Surgery
The patient is sedated with intravenous anesthetics to ensure they won’t feel a thing during the procedure. Next, an oral and maxilla-facial surgeon will carefully place the dental implants in your mouth; four on the upper jaw and four on the lower for a total of eight implants.
Next the restorative dentist finishes the procedure by affixing the “Teeth in One Day” dentures to the implants. This procedure is completed in as little as a day, with some procedures finishing within just a few short hours.
